Dr. Lychanda Coleman-Kelly is a Mississippi native raised in the rural town of Pinola, MS. She is a graduate of Mendenhall High School, JPS-Career Development Center, Hinds Community College, & Miracle University, Inc.

She is a dynamic educator, visionary leader, and transformative voice in the beauty and barbering industry. With decades of experience, she serves as the Curriculum Coordinator and Lead Instructor of the Cosmetology Department at Hinds Community College’s historic Utica Campus, where she is committed to developing skilled professionals and purpose-driven leaders.
Known for her signature approach of educating, empowering, and encouraging excellence, Dr. K brings innovation and structure to cosmetology education. She aligns curriculum with state board standards, fosters industry partnerships, and creates engaging, hands-on learning experiences that prepare students for real-world success.
Dr. K is an active member of the Alpha Chi Pi Omega Sorority & Fraternity of Illinois, Inc. where she also serves as the National Lead of Student Initiatives. In this role, she is the visionary behind the Aspire Initiative—a mentorship program designed to guide and support students across all facets of the beauty industry.
She is also a respected leader within the Cosmetology and Barbering School Owners and Teachers Association (CBSOTA), where she contributes to advancing education, collaboration, and professional development within the industry.
A passionate speaker and content creator, Dr. K uses her voice to inspire others through live broadcasts, educational series, and motivational messaging that challenge individuals to grow beyond limitations and walk boldly in purpose. She shares real stories of faith and life lessons.

Rooted in faith, fueled by purpose, and driven by impact, Dr. K continues to break barriers, bridge gaps, and build the next generation of leaders—one student, one assignment, and one opportunity at a time.

She has shared her knowledge and expertise on platforms such as; Bronner Brothers International Hair Show, Hair Tour Expo, Kirk Pro Hair Artistry "Jam Session" and the list goes on.

Dr. Kelly is an advocate for continued education, standing on the belief that continued education is a major key to success. She says Ray Kroc said it best, “When you’re green, you’re growing. When you are ripe, you rot.” Leading by example, she continues to enhance her industry knowledge by hosting & attending trade shows, CEU classes, and seminars.

She is passionate about preserving the beauty industry and imparting into the lives of others. She measures her success as an educator by the success and accomplishments of her students.

Her ultimate mission is to "Educate, Empower & Encourage Excellence". For one plants, another waters but its God that gives increase. I Corinthians 3:6-7.
